The Maharajgunj superstore that opened in September 2008 marked the start of the largest retail expansion programme in Nepal. Over the next three years Bhat-Bhateni will continue to expand with a further five new store openings across Nepal:

Kathmandu Across Nepal
  • Baluwatar
  • Koteswor
  • New Road
    Patan
    Boudha
  • Pokhara
  • Itahari

The new warehouse facility and wholesale unit in Baluwater is due to open by the end of 2011 and will enable Bhat-Bhateni to delivery further cost savings to loyal customers. The 60,000 sq. ft. warehouse section will enable improved operational efficiency from centralized purchases and efficient distribution. The 15,000 sq. ft. ‘cash & carry’ unit will provide a customized solution for bulk buyers, including trekking agencies, restaurants and small shops.

Construction work has been started in Koteswor, Boudha, Patan and this and the Pokhara superstore are due to be completed by the end of 2012. A smaller supermarket (grocery & kitchenware only) will be part of the new Ranjana mall in New Road due to open in 2011 and the superstore in Itahari is due to open shortly thereafter.

Mr. Min B. Gurung has truly visionary long-term goals and aim to establish farmer co-operatives in Nepal which is estimated to give employment to 50,000 people in total once the store expansion programme is complete, and is likely to position Bhat-Bhateni as the largest corporate tax payer in the country.
